Dave joined Stainton Lighting Design Services (SLDS) in January 2012 and has become an important member of the team. His role includes designing exterior lighting systems for roadways and feature lighting projects.
He commenced his career with the North East Electricity Board in the 1981 undertaking an electrical craft apprenticeship and developed his career through different roles within the industry.
Dave has built up his road lighting experience commencing in the industry as an electrician in 1986, working nationwide as a contractor on motorways and major trunk roads, carrying out maintenance work for local authorities and installation work for civil engineering companies.
Throughout his career he has progressed through the ranks of Supervisor and Contracts Manager prior to becoming a Designer.
With SLDS Dave has been successful in achieving NEBOSH National General Certification and National Certification in Construction Health and Safety. He has also gained his Exterior Lighting Diploma and has recently become a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
Dave is currently working towards becoming an Incorporated Engineer through the Institution of Lighting Professionals.
Dave carries out highway surveys for Highways England (HE) and progresses identified schemes through HE’s Value Management process and onto full design preparing construction drawings, Bills of Quantities and detailed specification documents to the current HE standards.
